The 14th Tale

What does a centuries-old book in Ireland have to do with a teenage girl in Boston? Everything, if she wants to live past her fourteenth birthday. With his daughter, Ailee, growing weaker by the day, Detective Finn Donnelly reluctantly takes her back to his homeland to face the reason he left. Trying to keep the truth hidden from his daughter, Finn reunites with his eccentric in-laws, the Killians. Soon, he becomes immersed in a world he wants nothing to do with—a place where two worlds exist simultaneously and fantasy and reality collide daily. Racing against time, the Killian clan begins the foretold final journey to save Ailee's life and end the curse that has plagued their family for fourteen generations.

  • "Xann-shapella Smith is one of those rare storytellers who is able to pull the reader in with ease within the first page. The 14th Tale was so thrilling and magical I slowed my reading so it would last as long as possible!."

  • Loved this story so much! The characters, the Irish folklore (especially the fairies!), the way the author weaves everything together… the plot is unique, not predictable like so many stories. I will reread this one several times. I love this author!

  • I started to read this book this morning and before I knew it I had enjoyed a day of delightful wisping away to Ireland. I couldn't put it down until I enjoyed the ending. It's as if I was there watching the events unfold. Definitely recommend!
